Attendees who sign up by July 31 will save $100 on registration and be entered to win one of the three MakerBot Replicator 2 3D printers being given away. The four-day event, which will take place at the Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center, kicks off on Sunday, Aug. 17, with the workshop Scalable Nanomanufacturing: Benchmarks, Standards and Metrics for Fabrication and Integration of 3D Nanostructures and the inaugural ASME Innovative Design Simulation (IDSC) Challenge. From Aug. 18 to 20, the Impact Forum will feature nearly 30 sessions, covering a wide range of topics related to advanced design and manufacturing, including innovation policies and initiatives for manufacturing; advances in computer-aided engineering; 3D printing; medical devices and life sciences; information technology and the automobile; and robotics. Featured speakers will include Helmuth Ludwig, chief executive officer of Siemen USAs Industry Sector; Joe Salvo, manager of the Business Integration Technologies Lab at GE Global Research; Mike Hess, vice president of Bradycardia RD, Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management (CRDM) Division at Medtronic; and Lanetra Tate, principal investigator at NASAs Game Changing Development Program. The conference, which will be hosted by the University of Buffalo, will also include a Career Fair, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 20, where job seekers can build their network and meet with prospective employers in the advanced manufacturing, engineering, and design engineering industries. The Career Fair will encompass two special roundtable discussions: Hiring Trends and Best Practices in Pursuing a Career in the Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Fields and Global Market Drivers, Skill Shortages and Public/Private Partnerships. In addition, the conference will feature electronic poster presentations; an exhibits area showcasing a connected car demonstration; special tracks focusing on the areas of aerospace, medical devices, and life sciences; and an Engineering for Global Development Impact Forum, addressing innovations for design and manufacturing for emerging markets in the developing world.  For more details on the Advanced Design and Manufacturing Impact Forum, visit http://go.asme.org/ImpactForum.
